Riviera Pebbles Blog: Picasso in the Times Newspaper

Posted on 2nd Jun 2014 in Pebbles Properties

Congratulations to our Picasso apartment which on 17 May 2014 was chosen by the Times Newspaper for their feature on Top 20 Villas on the French Riviera. Well, both our Owner and us are a little puzzled about how this two bedroom apartment made it within the realms of 19 other grand places with ground and pools, but it shines amongst them nonetheless. Who are we to argue?

Annebelle Thorpe writing her piece for the Saturday Travel Supplement in the Times said “The real joy with this arty, fun apartment is its proximity to the wonderful Marché Provençal where you can buy everything to keep the small kitchen fully stocked. The two neat bedrooms are simply furnished, with splashes of colour and modern art prints on the walls, and the lounge feels light and airy. Everything you need, including beautiful sandy beaches, is within an easy walk. . We couldn’t agree more.

The covered Marché Provençal can be found at Cours Masséna, early until 12.30pm. Tall palm trees and wide plane trees decorate this lovely square where restaurants and shops vie for your attention. The market is closed on Mondays, except for the summer months between June and August. This market is mouth-wateringly seductive. Just the wafts of fragrant spices and fresh herbs will be enough to draw you in. Fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, cheese, flowers, honey, jams and other confectionery, spices, fresh and dried herbs are attractively displayed. These are local growers selling their seasonal home grown produce; it becomes a little hectic and over-crowded at the weekends, but that can be half the fun. On Saturdays and Sundays more stalls, which often overspill into Cours Masséna, are set up selling a diverse selection of clothes, pretty Provençal table, bed linen and towels. There is more about Antibes on our sister site Riviera Pebbles here.

The Picasso apartment joined our Riviera Pebbles portfolio in 2011 and has welcomed over 30 sets of guests. You can read what some of our guests have said about Picasso here.
