We’ve been coming to this small restaurant (which doubles as a speciality olive oil shop) for over a decade now. It remains my absolute favourite, and almost every time I dine, I overhear voices from other diners who murmur in delight at the flavours.

The restaurant is popular with locals and travellers alike, and we’ve made a few friends along the way – even enjoying chance encounters with a few of our guests or property owners. The way people talk about this excellent place means it’s always busy, and it’s a good idea to pop in to reserve a table before you dine.

The menu comprises of simple dishes made from fresh, good quality ingredients, and everything is prepared in the small open kitchen next to the dining area. At Oliviera, there’s an olive oil to compliment every flavour: avocado, rabbit, squash, lasagne - and even tiramisu. The restaurant is vegetarian-friendly.

Nadim and Régine are great hosts. Friendly and charming, they both speak fluent English as well as French, and will happily talk you through the menu before you order. All the produce is as fresh as you can get – bought daily at Le Marché du Cours Saleya. We’ve never had a bad bottle of wine here; it’s local and reasonably priced, with bottles starting at 18 euros.

Attached to the restaurant is a specialist shop where you can sample a varied selection of locally produced olive oils. If the oils won’t fit in your suitcase, they can arrange for delivery at home.
