If you find yourself in the heart of Nice after an evening of exploration, we highly recommend you try this bistro, La Mise Au Verre on Rue Pastorelli. We've been in several times over the years, and remembered we needed to tell guests about it when the owners of Avoca reminded us recently how great it is. It has been their restaurant of choice when they visit, usually as soon as they arrive.
Just a hop off the tram at the Durandy tram stop (on the Airport Line) , it's a gem of an authentic French bistro and wine bar where you can try their wide selection of Organic wines, from white to red or even stopping for a bite to eat.
You’ll find their fresh dishes listed on the blackboards using top quality produce all supplied with friendly and efficient service, their waiting staff having a vast knowledge of the wines they serve, to match your palate, all the while you get cosy and enjoy the quirky décor. The bistro has been going for years and is the sister bistro of the even longer-standing Part des Anges (rue Gubenatis) which is similar, but not so similar that it isn't worth checking them both out. Part des Anges is more about the wine, with a few small dishes, La Mise Au Verre is bigger on the food front and you can enjoy dishes like aubergine risotto with fresh Menton lemons, pork with pumpkin puree and a clever twist on a fancy mushroom dish.
It is a genuine treat for everyone who comes to Nice and wants to feel the authentic feel that attracts tourists to Nice over and over again.
