Here's what our Guests have written in our Guest book or emailed us after their stay for our rental apartment Liberte :
We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely rental apartment in Nice – very comfortable, all amenities and lovely outside space. The chairs are very comfortable and air conditioning a plus this week! The oven requires a degree to operate, simple instructions would be useful. Some information on local shops bakers etc would also be useful. We can recommend a trip to Menton and to Villa and Garden Euphrasi (only €1 on the 81 bus) at Saint–Jean-Cap-Ferrat. Good food at Maison du Marie (on rue Messina down the alley by Boccachio restaurant) and pasta to cook at home from Clé aux Pâtes on rue de la Boucherie in the old town – sauces only need reheating. If you love good food, you must visit L’Univers on Boulevard Jean Jaures (near the fountains) fantastic €44 seasonal menu (4 courses and lots of amuse-bouches), wine very reasonable too. They have a special two course €20 menu too. Don’t miss it!

We have loved our time spent in your Nice apartment. We loved the location, the security of the building, the conveniences of the apartment and the outdoor space. We focused on enjoying the intense heat our days in Nice provided, so we made it our mission to seek out the beaches! If looking for a beach along the promenade, Florida beach was recommended to us, as you have lots of room, music, food and all for €13. We also liked the public beach next to Florida beach as it was considerably less busy than many others closer to the apartment. We also sought out 2 ‘secret beaches’ listed in in the Pebbles tourist book on page 9. So we thought we’d share our tips. The ‘Saint Laurent d’Eze plage’ is actually west of Monaco rather than east. If heading east on the no. 100 bus from Nice. You get off at St Laurent d’Eze stop and walk 50 metres further down the road where the return bus stop is located. Here on the right of the road you will find stairs (many) leading down to the beach. It was definitely a quieter beach and the water was great for swimming. Our next beach tip is for the ‘Plage de la Darse’ in Villefranche. Follow the path as referred to in page 8 of the Pebbles guide, past Citadel on seaward side and through Port de la Darse. We did not see how we were headed to the beach - walk all through the port until the end of the boats. Across from the restaurant walk around a path towards a little ’house’ in the side of the port wall. There are stairs here to get up and over this wall where there is a beach on the other side. Quite the hidden area! And finally we have never seen water clearer than the water on the south side of Saint Margarite. Take a ferry from Cannes to the island and walk the path along to the south side. The rocks make it hard to get out into the water, but the water is very clear, shallow and warm – perfect for snorkelling. Some English speaking nightspots we visited were ‘Waynes’ – a good place for drinks and music – very busy! And the ‘Snug’ bar/ restaurant. Head through Massena Place to Rue de la Prefecture. ‘Waynes’ is there and ‘Snug & Cellar’ is on Rue Droite nearby. Enjoy the beaches of the Riviera!

Nice is a great city. We enjoyed our time here although we did find it a bit too commercial. The holiday apartment is great, we appreciated the use of the beach things but were not very successful in operating the oven. We did go to the secret beach at St-Laurent-d’Eze’. Sorry, not so secret – very busy, also it is a pebble beach. The Pelican restaurant on rue de la Prefecture doesn’t look much but the pizzas are amazing!

Liberte rental apartment is very comfortable with air conditioning and beautiful terrace. It is easy walking distance to so many great shops and restaurants, including Galeries Lafayette. I agree that ‘Maison de Marie’ is a very good dining experience – a bit upscale. Equally very good is Baie d’Amalfi at 9 rue Gustav Deloye (nice wine selection). Vieille Ville is a 10 mins walk and a must for shopping and dining. The fromagerie La Ponchette at 12 rue Prefecture is a cheese lovers dream. Don’t do the menu at Delhi Belhi – it’s not worth it and the food is quite salty. Don’t leave the 2nd set of keys in the door – you won’t be able to get back in. Enjoy your stay on the Cote d’Azur (we have!)

This is Carol, the owner of the apartment. Firstly I’m glad you all seem to enjoy your stay in my 2nd home. It’s a great spot isn’t it? All the furnishings and extras were chosen with loving care. I share your frustration re the oven (which is also a microwave) with the instructions I managed to cook a full roast, but unfortunately the instructions have disappeared – where they went I don’t know. I shall see if I can get another set from the internet as I have taken the serial number home with me. I agree re Maison du Marie, my other favourite is Chez Juliette in the old town, very friendly and enjoyable. Go to St Paul de Vence on the bus. It’s wonderful – there are lots of details in the boxes on the coffee table. I visit 3 to 4 times a year. J’adore Nice.
