The rental apartment is on the first floor, without a lift. The building was once the home of Abbot Giofreddo, and there are still original features of the old monastery in the building including the door.

The rental apartment is right in the heart of the Vieux Nice (Old Town) on a cobbled street bustling with shops and restaurants, including one of our favourites, Oliviera. It is less than a minute walk to the main bus station or Gare Routière, very handy for the airport express bus and accessing all transport links to the rest of the Riviera.

An abundance of good restaurants are on your doorstep including a few of our favourites on the Cuisine pages. Stroll through the Old Town and you will reach the beach and promenade in 5 minutes. Place Massena is just a few minutes walk away in the other direction, so you are still near the main shops. It is just over a minute walk to the local supermarket.

It is an approximate 10 minute walk to the Shopping District in the modern city centre, 15 minutes to the Port and about 25 minutes on foot to the main Nice Ville train station. The nearest tram stop is about 2 minutes walk from the apartment.

The open plan living and kitchen area is huge at some 50 square metres. Sympathetically restored in keeping with its era, guests can enjoy the wooden beams, original stonework as well as modern furniture such as a chocolate coloured sofa and armchair, wooden coffee table with glass top, large console unit and an expandable glass topped table with four high backed chairs. There is a 42" LCD screen with DVD Cinema system. There is also a Wi-Fi package which includes over 5 English TV channels (mainly news channels).

The large kitchen has everything you need for entertaining. There are plenty of cream kitchen units, some of which hide a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, with the others holding all the utensils, crockery, and glassware you might ever need. There is an electric four ring hob with extractor fan, a built in microwave, and electric oven. Complementing the exposed original brickwork in the living area, the kitchen wall tiling follows the same artistic curves. A long wooden worktop runs along three sides, creating a perfect breakfast bar which separates the dining area from the kitchen.

To better enjoy a Nicois feast, guests can use the large glass top dinng table with four high backed chairs.

Open plan with the bathroom, the bedroom has a King Size Roche Bobois bed in solid lime wood with uplifted legs and a curved antiqued headboard. There are matching bedside tables with touch tone bedside lamps. There is a built in wardrobe with hanging rail and drawers. Above the bed is an exquisite original chandelier with rose jewels as well as complementary cushions, throws ornaments and artwork. There is an air-conditioning in the bedroom.

Open plan with the bedroom, the bathroom offers a sunken bath for two with an original chandelier suspended from the ceiling above. There is separate walk in rain shower and two ceramic wash basins. The bathroom is tiled in cream dotted with occasional inset framed mirrors and cream mosaics. There is a separate WC next to the bedroom.
